We specifically chose the 2017 Porsche 919 LMP1’s power unit as it was Porsche’s last hurrah in its bid for the LMP1 class of the WEC. The 919 Hybrid was immensely successful, winning 3 out of the 4 manufacturers' championships from 2014 to 2017.
Firstly, we employed gAI (ChatGPT) to obtain an overview of the Porsche 919’s hybrid power unit. We used the prompt, "Give an overview on the WEC LMP1 Power Unit (Porsche 919, 2017)", which gave us a broad range of interesting and useful facts and information about the engine.
We then conducted our own research and looked through various websites on google to gather more key information.
We watched YouTube videos on the Porsche 919 Hybrid called, "The AMAZING Porsche 919 Hybrid | Chris Harris Drives | Top Gear", and “Porsche 919 Hybrid technology explained in detail”. It helped us to better visualize how the engine looks and works, which helped us in fully understanding the technologies of the car.
We then noted down the key information on a separate google docs.
Finally, we started working on the summary.
- I then went to search more on the car using keywords like, "Porsche 919 Internal Combustion Engine", "Porsche 919 Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems", "Porsche 919 Energy Recovery Systems" and more.
- Through this i found many articles, magazine and pamphlets talking about the car which gave me valuable information to use for my readers response.
- I also went to watch various videos on the World Endurance Championships 2017, specifically about the Porsche team.
- I searched mainly, "Porsche 919 WEC 2017" which gave me various videos to watch about the car's history and more.
- I then bookmarked a selected few resources which i believed were informative and relevant and started writing my readers response while citing these sources.
